Passion Against Rape and Abuse in Africa (PARA Africa)
Beyond her achievements in Nollywood, Foluke Daramola is deeply respected for her commitment to humanitarian service and social justice. She is the founder and African President of Passion Against Rape and Abuse in Africa (PARA Africa) — a non-governmental initiative she championed to confront the growing challenges of sexual violence, domestic abuse, and other forms of exploitation affecting women and children across Africa.
What began as a personal calling has grown into a powerful movement. PARA Africa focuses on creating real awareness, offering emotional and practical support to victims, and driving community education on issues many are afraid to talk about. Through advocacy campaigns, outreach programs, and survivor empowerment initiatives, the organization continues to give hope, amplify voices, and push for justice for those whose rights have been violated.
Mission of The Foundation
The core mission of PARA Africa goes beyond simply raising awareness — it is built on the belief that every woman, child, and vulnerable person deserves safety, dignity, and justice. The foundation is committed to:
- Raising awareness about rape, abuse, and gender-based violence:
PARA Africa works to break the silence around these issues by educating communities, challenging harmful cultural norms, and encouraging open conversations that can lead to meaningful change. - Providing support and advocacy for victims:
The foundation offers guidance, emotional support, and legal direction to survivors, ensuring they are not alone as they navigate the difficult journey toward healing and justice. - Encouraging stronger laws and policies that protect women and children:
PARA Africa actively engages policymakers, government agencies, and community leaders to push for reforms that ensure better protection, faster justice, and stricter punishment for offenders. - Promoting education and prevention programs across African communities:
Through school campaigns, workshops, and community outreach, the foundation empowers people with knowledge that can prevent abuse before it happens.
Through its consistent campaigns, rescue efforts, and grassroots outreach, PARA Africa continues to advocate for a safer and more informed society — one where victims feel supported, empowered, and heard, and where justice is not a privilege but a right.
Advocacy for Victims of Abuse
As an outspoken advocate, Foluke Daramola has consistently used her platform to draw attention to the challenges faced by victims of abuse.
Through her organization, she has handled and supported numerous cases involving victims of sexual violence. In public discussions about the issue, she once revealed that a large percentage of the rape cases brought to her organization involved trusted community figures, emphasizing the need for greater awareness and protection for vulnerable individuals.
Her activism also challenges harmful myths about abuse and encourages society to support survivors rather than blame them.
Social Impact Campaigns
Through PARA Africa, Foluke Daramola has led several social awareness campaigns focusing on:
- Sexual violence prevention
- Domestic violence awareness
- Drug abuse awareness
- Child protection and girl-child empowerment
The organization has also used photo documentary projects and media campaigns to educate the public about social issues affecting communities in Africa.
Using Film and Media for Advocacy
As an actress and filmmaker, Foluke Daramola strongly believes that the entertainment industry is one of the most powerful tools for driving social awareness and influencing public attitude. She understands that films, documentaries, and media content have the ability to reach millions, spark conversations, and shift mindsets in ways that traditional advocacy sometimes cannot.
Foluke consistently encourages fellow filmmakers, producers, and actors to use their creative platforms responsibly — by telling stories that highlight the realities of abuse, gender-based violence, and societal injustice. She advocates for films that not only entertain but also educate, challenge harmful norms, and amplify the voices of survivors who are often unheard.
By merging her craft with her humanitarian passion, Foluke Daramola has turned Nollywood into an extension of her advocacy work. Whether through acting, producing, or public speaking, she continues to show how storytelling can inspire empathy, empower communities, and push society toward meaningful change.
Commitment to social Justice
Foluke Daramola’s dedication to social justice goes far beyond her public image as an entertainer. Her advocacy work is rooted in a genuine passion for protecting vulnerable people and giving a voice to those who are often overlooked—especially women, children, and young people. She uses her influence and platform to speak boldly against abuse, exploitation, and harmful cultural practices that hinder the growth and safety of African communities.
Through PARA Africa, Foluke continues to partner with activists, NGOs, government bodies, and community leaders to push for stronger protections, better support systems, and lasting reforms. Her work involves creating awareness campaigns, organizing outreach programs, and promoting open conversations that encourage survivors to speak out without fear or shame.
Foluke’s humanitarian drive has earned her admiration from both the public and her colleagues in the industry. She is regarded not only as a talented actress and filmmaker but also as a courageous advocate who consistently stands up for justice, dignity, and human rights. Her continued efforts reflect her unwavering belief that every individual deserves safety, respect, and the opportunity to thrive in a society free from violence and abuse.
