THE SOCIO-POLITICAL CITATION OF DR. (MRS.) FOLUKE OMOLOLA DARAMOLA-SALAKO (JP)

Dr. (Mrs.) Foluke Omolola Daramola-Salako, Justice of the Peace, is a distinguished Nigerian filmmaker, accomplished thespian, humanitarian, social philanthropist, human rights activist, and progressive politician whose remarkable influence spans over three decades of impactful service.

Born on the 15th of February, 1978, in Lagos, she is the daughter of the late Engineer Olufunsho Daramola and Dr. (Mrs.) Aderonke Daramola.

Her life journey reflects a rare blend of talent, intellect, compassion, and purposeful leadership.

Her academic pursuits are marked by excellence and vision.

She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University in 2001, where she served meritoriously, as Director of Socials in the Student Union Government—an early demonstration of her leadership acumen and political inclination.

She further earned a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from University of Lagos in 2010.

Dr. Daramola-Salako’s journey into the entertainment industry, began at the age of 13, on the popular television programme Teen TV, hosted by Chichi Okaro.

She transitioned fully into Nollywood in 1996, gaining prominence through her role in the widely acclaimed television soap opera Palace.

Since then, she has remained a formidable force in the Nigerian film industry, featuring in, producing, and directing numerous home videos, television series, and cinema productions, both locally and internationally.

Her notable works include A Barber’s Wisdom, produced by Tajudeen Adepetu and Tunde Kelani, and directed by the late Amaka Igwe, as well as, Ayo Mi Da, produced by Sola Sobowale and directed by Tade Ogidan.

Her expansive portfolio also includes Everyday People, Agogo Ewo, The Cobwebs, My Blood (Eje Mi), and Wakati Eda, among many others—several of which she personally produced and directed.

Her outstanding contributions to the entertainment and socio-political landscape have earned her numerous awards and recognitions.

These include:

the Afrodublin Award (2004), AfroHollywood Award (2005), Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, the Distinguished Ekiti Daughter Award, presented by Kayode Fayemi in 2016, and a Special Recognition Political Award, presented by Aisha Buhari in 2019 at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

She was also honored as Best Supporting Humanitarian Personality by the City People Awards, for her impactful work, through her foundation – PARA Africa.

Her early exposure to politics, dates back to her undergraduate days, when she hosted Bola Ahmed Tinubu—then newly elected Governor of Lagos State —alongside, members of the State Assembly, including Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, and Hon. Wale Hammed, at a victory celebration event, held at Lacamagne Tropicana, Adeniyi Jones, Lagos.

A passionate humanitarian, Dr. Daramola-Salako is the Founder of PARA Africa Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting veteran Nollywood practitioners and advocating for the protection, empowerment, and advancement of the girl-child across Nigeria.

In the political sphere, she is a respected figure and a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

She played a strategic role as Deputy Media Director in the Presidential Campaign Council of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the 2023 general elections.

Proudly hailing from Ekiti State and born and raised in Lagos, Dr. Foluke Daramola Salako is a woman of substance, grace, and unwavering dedication to service.

She is married to Olukayode Ezekiel Salako, a notable educationist, showbiz investor, politician, and a Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian.

A committed party stalwart and nation builder, she has contributed significantly to numerous political programmes and initiatives of the APC across Nigeria, while also maintaining an illustrious career in the film industry, with hundreds of productions to her credit.

In furtherance of her enduring commitment to public service, Dr. Daramola-Salako has presented herself as an aspirant for the House of Representatives, Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I, in the forthcoming 2027 General Elections, under the platform of the APC, with a clear vision to deliver purposeful representation and transformative leadership to her people.
